What does everyone think about the pouch test? Is there any scientific evidence to support this? The only information I have been able to find is through bariatric blogs, etc. The surgeon I practice with wants to promote this but I have difficult time promoting guidelines that are not supported by scientific evidence...any insight is greatly appreciated! Guest guest
Hi Juday, I'm not certain what the guidelines are and was hoping to find out from other bariatric dietitians. I believe the patient reverts back to full liquids for a period of time followed by transitioning back to soft and regular stages. I'm uclear on the science behind it... > > What is the pouch test? > > Judy Steiner, RD, LD > Registered Dietitian - Bariatrics > Member ASMBS and ADA > St. Luke's Boise Medical Center > 208-381-7281 > > > ________________________________________ > From: [ ] On Behalf Of nicole.chase12 [nicole.chase12@...] > Sent: Wednesday, July 06, 2011 3:43 PM > > Subject: Pouch Test? > > What does everyone think about the pouch test? Guest guest
, I just completed the 5 day pouch test about 4 weeks ago. I am a 3 year RNY GBP and I needed to jump start my metabolism as I have been in a plateau for about 8 weeks. This was recommended to my by my Bariatric surgeon. If you go to http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ it will provide you with all of the information in regards to how it works and what it is to accomplish. It worked very well for me. I lost 4 pounds in that week and have lost about 2 pounds a weeks since completion. I hope this is helpful. > > > > What is the pouch test? > > > > Judy Steiner, RD, LD > > Registered Dietitian - Bariatrics > > Member ASMBS and ADA > > St. Luke's Boise Medical Center > > 208-381-7281 > > > > > > ________________________________________ > > From: [ ] On Behalf Of nicole.chase12 [nicole.chase12@] > > Sent: Wednesday, July 06, 2011 3:43 PM > > > > Subject: Pouch Test? > > > > What does everyone think about the pouch test?
