Guest guest
I was told that a BMI of 25 is what should be used to determine excess body weight. That is how bariatric studies show excess body weight. A 25 BMI would give the pt a " normal " weight. In my assessments, i calculate what each person needs to weight in order to be a 25 BMI and then I show them how much weight they would have to lose to reach that number (EBW). Then I show them what the average weight loss of EBW of each procedure is. This can give them an idea of how much they can lose. > > Hi, > I am seeking your help, our bariatric surgery doctors is reporting that Ideal body weight should be calculated depending on BMI 25 not Hammwi method, do you have any information or references regarding that? > Thank you, > > > > > > > > > Rawan Al - Hazaimeh | Dietitian II | Clinical Dietetics | OPERATIONS > Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, P.O.Box: 51900, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates > Tel: +971 2 610 2000 | Direct: +971 2 819 3389 Mobile: +971502686101 Fax: +971 2 610 2577 > ralhazaimeh@... | www.skmc.ae > > > P Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail >
Guest guest
Hello, I am also using BMI 25 for IBW in the excess body weight calculation. This is what is recommended in the ADA Pocket Guide to Bariatric Surgery on pg 8, box 1.1.
