We just COE recertification visit yesterday. These are some of the things I can

remember that we were recommended to have the following by a consultant we

hired:

-List of key people in the bariatric practice and their contact information

(surgeons, nurses, RD, coordinator, etc.)

-Complications guidelines

-Clinical pathways

-Outline of diet progression

-Specs on any bariatric equipment ( wheel chairs, beds, chairs, scales, etc.

-this took up a large amount of space!)

Hope this gives you a start. I don't know how particular the reviewer was, but

we didn't get a deficiency on this part. We had ours in a binder with tabs with

printed labels for easy viewing and supplied one to our clinic, ER, ICUs, OR (i

think) and the two floors our patients go to after surgery.

Our Bariatric Resource manual is on the Hospital Employee Intranet. The clinical pathways, diet advancement, how to reach the office, bariatric team members, equipment specs and where to find certain equipment in the hospital is located in the resource manual. We had an inspection in June- we made the inspector aware that is was available however she never looked at it or asked staff about it.

Hope this helps,

Congratulations! We have COE status but am afraid we will loose it now

that our bariatric clinic has taken over the running of things from the

hospital since acquiring it.
