We use Super B Complex for both lap band and Sleeve Gastrectomy patients. From: Tammy <cflyrod1@...> Sent: Wed, March 30, 2011 4:20:21 PMSubject: lap band vitamins

I am curious as to what type of B vitamin supplemention you do for lap bands. We have been using a B-complex but dr wants to change to just b-12. I thought specific B-12 supplementation was for bypass patients. Input would be appreciated. thanks

I do not recommend a separate b-12. There is not a need as IF absorption sites are not altered. I recommend 1 b-complex. The paper that came out in SOARD in 2008 has the same recommendations. We don't supplement B vitamins for lap-band patients unless an issue shows up in their post-op labs. Kirkpatrick, RD, LD---------- Original Message ----------From: "Tammy" <cflyrod1@...> Subject: lap band vitaminsDate: Wed, 30 Mar 2011 21:20:21 -0000
