Guest guest
I am new to the Bariatric population. Does anyone know what the patients estimated calorie and protein needs are long term after surgery? Also, does anyone have any good websites and/or information they use on meal planning post surgery gastric bypass, lap band, and gastric sleeve? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Guest guest
This article is very useful! I don't think i have ever been able to find recommendations on energy needs. I typically try to encourage my patients to focus on their protein needs. Hope this article will help. http://www.asmbs.org/Newsite07/resources/bgs_final.pdf > > I am new to the Bariatric population. Guest guest
We tell all our pts to aim for keeping their calories between 1200-1400 per day. Obviously, some pts are able to go above this range with younger age and increased exercise, but in general, this is were we've seen the greatest success in terms of longterm weight loss. With protein, we generally use 60-80 g per day with some variations for specific populations. On Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 3:46 PM, sprinta2004 <bspruill@...> wrote: I am new to the Bariatric population.
