Guest guest
Hello , I think that this is a great question. I am a bit confused by the second half. Are they requesting you create something for post op patients, or pre op patients which would be the "preparation for the surgery and life after surgery." I think there are parts of the LEARN program that are apprpriate for post operative patients, especially the mindful eating, increased movement, self monitoring, looking at relationships and social activitites that may contribue to maladaptive eating and/or self defeating behaviors. The parts that I would change are the ones that focus on eating grains/carbs, the calorie calculations etc. I work with patients more on listening to what the pouch is signaling to them about hunger, portion and appetite vs. trying to get in specific meal sizes, calories. I have found that when you give someone specific details about what they must eat(vs general guidelines), it overrides the natural signal that the proceudres are designed to give a patient to assist with weight loss. People will just eat to get it in because we told them so vs. they are really hungry. I hope this makes sense. Plaase feel free to contact me if you want to discuss. I also have a pre-op program that I can discuss about prepping patients for surgery and to meet insurance requirements.
