Guest guest
There seems to be some confusion and misinformation about how to bill for massage along with Chiropractic treatment on the same day. I had read somewhere (thought it was through this venue but unable to locate) that the LMT's NPI number needs to be on the HCFA/line item e.g. 97124 59 ........LMT's NPI and the Chiro's NPI for their services e.g. 98941, 97014, 97010 etc. Spoke with Tech support at Office Ally and was informed that if there was more than one " rendering provider " 's NPI number the claim would fail (this does not include the separate Office NPI # in box 33). Also, the website at the bottom of the HCFA: www.nucc.org does not give any direction for more than one NPI rendering provider. This said: How do you all bill for Massage? Under your NPI? Separate claim for LMT? Does it matter if they are Independent Contractors or Employees when it comes to this billing? Thinking specifically about Regence; when the patient is covered for Massage when done by the Chiropractor (since our scope says we can " delegate " this service - the LMT can actually perform it); is it legal to bill with our NPI numbers? Much appreciation for any clarity on this issue. Feel free to contact me off list at: drshirsch@... (Not in office this week). Happy New Year!
