I've had two in as many weeks and it seemsthey are contacting us more quickly now (by phone) to notify us of this. In the past they would take so long to let us know that you could get the patient some treatment in the meantime. This past one really gets me though and i wonder how i should proceed. The patient was referred in by a Kaiser doctor for neck strain for 5 visits. Upon examining and talking with him it was clear the injury occurred while working as a landscaper, so i did the necessary stuff to begin the WC claim. Got notice today that his company is under Providence MCO, of which i do not belong. This potentially rips a patient from my care. Can he ultimately decide to NOT continue the work comp claim and we continue to treat under the original referral? I could see this getting complicated.I'd like for him not to have to pay copays and have the injury documented accurately,But i cant see him wanting to change docs. This is getting so prevalent, i'm considering joining these MCO's.......but they are DIFFICULT to get on. UghhhI'd appreciate your feedback, Thanks,ph Medlin D.C.
