I heard about it too. A friend of mine has used it in cooking and says it has a "sweeter" taste than regular sea salt. It's supposed to be gray in color because it is richer in minerals than regular sea salt. The story is that it's mined from an ancient underground sea salt deposit in Utah.As far as health benefits go, I don't know, but would be very skeptical of any such claims.Jamey DysonOn Jul 29, 2011, at 12:55 PM, Larry Oliver wrote:

I too am a Celtic salt fan and have been for about 12 years.  It taste good and is balanced with a multiple of other accompanying minerals.  The Grain and Salt Society sells it wholesale for a lot cheaper than Whole Foods-who also sell it.

I read, quite some time ago, that all salt that is sold as a FOOD must be around 98% sodium and chlorine.  Sea water is about 84 - 85% sodium and chlorine.  ANY salt that is not sold as " salt " for food or as " seasalt " is likely healthier.  I've used Celtic salt for over 30 years.  Many of my patients who had leaky heart valves could eat as much of it as they wanted, without edema but if they ate regular salt they had edema.  You might check out the " Grain and Salt Society " also.

......isn't is kick to watch this early advance? And salt is all about minerals. Our populace is so minerally deficient that even just a lilttle bit of uncleaned salt can make a major difference in a person's body! Interesting you bring this up- a patient brought in a bag of pink Utah salt (Fred Meyer nutrition center) and was raving about how it stops her muscle cramps. Guess who recommended it? Her family MD/GP. Miracles never cease-the same Docs who poopoed nutrition a few years back have suddenly discovered salt and Vit D! R Johansen D.C.
