Guest guest
I believe those stats Vern forwarded are correct. This touches a nerve in me, because I used to be in the Merchant Marine and witnessed first-hand, the demise of a very-effective American industry due to the machinations of large corporations. I will add (as a former marine engnieer and graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy) that the Maersk ship is Danish-flagged (along with a bunch of sister ships) and does not employ any US Citizens to my knowledge. The actual construction and staffing of American-based (practically-speaking) ships (by American-based multi-national corporations) has been completely " off-shored " by mostly-US-based, multi-national corporations (to improve their bottom line) and this has also had a net negative effect on our economy (while enriching a relatively small number of folks). What's this got to do with chiropractic? Maybe it is actually ON topic?! Chiropractic, is one of the last areas in healthcare for micro-business and locally-owned/locally-connected/truly-patient-centered/diversified health care. Sadly, many chiros wrongly believe that we (as a profession) are economically-challenged because of some aspect of our own qualities, our own personalities or our own paradigm (not enough drugs, or too many quacks, not enough rehab focus or because we use the term subluxation, etc.) I have news for us. NONE of that is true! There is a bigger game at play: Since " off-shoring " health care is very difficult to do, the powers-that-be are trying to commoditize, widgetize and dehumanize health care until every (customer) patient becomes completely dis-empowered. ....and every diagnosis, doctor, procedure, disease, treatment, etc. can be turned into an interchangeable-commodity/widget or number with a dollar sign next to it, and all decisions made by computer-driven algorithms. They will do everything they can to the best of their wall-street-based ability to 'medicalize' every aspect of life and disconnect people from their own bodies and life experisences, just as they have done in agriculture (disconnecting people from the life-giving land) and other industries as well. This is the trend that we must together fight, because it is a " LOSE-LOSE SITUATION " in the long run (as health stats from the last 25 years clearly show). We, as a profession have got to continue to fight our good fight for common-sense natural health care, reasonable patient-choice, and truly-FAIR competition among health care providers. > > Why the trade deficit continues to grow and especially with our wonderful communist comrades in China... > > Vern Saboe, DC > > > Fw: FW: MAERSK LINE/Come to the ports here and watch them unload Chinese crap > > > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > > > > > > > > OMG !!! & more !!!! > > > > > > > > Be Sure to read the ending........................ > > See the editorial under the last picture.
