Guest guest
BTW guys/gals, My KBOO public radio interview on CCOs (and Veterans issues) aired couple of days ago if you goggle; Chiropractor Dr. Vern Saboe on Oregon's Health System...it will come up you will see "2 days ago" hit that link and it will take you to the recorded interview. I may give you more ideas as per what to email the Oregon Health Policy Board relative to not allowing CCOs to discriminate against us....just a thought....Vern Saboe "Action Alert!!, Action Alert!! Public Comment Period Ends Jan. 3rd, 2012! Colleagues, the "Oregon Health Policy Board" is currently taking public comment on Oregon's coming "Coordinated Care Organizations" (CCOs) which ends Jan. 3. We must response and have our patients respond during this comment period. Oregon's CCOs must not be allowed to discriminate against our services, we must build support from the public for our proposed non-discrimination language. You and your patients and students at our schools can make public comment via sending their comment to this email address, OHPB.Info@... Here are some suggested points colleagues, students, and patients can make. I would suggest printing these off in some manner so you can hand them with the email address to patients. The public want our services and if we are really going to change how we deliver health care not just how we pay for it Oregon's coming "Coordinated Care Organizations" must not be allowed to discriminate against__________fill in the blank, e.g. chiropractors, naturopaths, optometrists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, etc. If we are going to really change how we deliver health care and move away from the medical model and it's over-reliance on drugs the coming "Coordinated Care Organizations" must not be allowed to discriminate against natural health care providers such as acupuncturists, chiropractors, naturopaths, massage therapists etc. Non-discrimination language similar to Sec. 2706 of the Federal Health Care bill must be added to Oregon's "Health Systems Transformation Bill" so CCOs cannot discriminate against any health care provider practicing within their scope, licensure, or certification. We are not asking for an "any willing provider" provision but rather a non-discrimination law. The "Oregon Health Plan" will currently pay for pain medications including narcotics with all of their baggage/side effects not the least of which is addiction and death but will not pay for drug free acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic treatments? Something is drastically wrong we cannot allow the coming "Coordinated Care Organizations" to be able to discriminate against this "CAM" natural healers. During the Oregon Health Authority's "Statewide Community Meetings" the public make it abundantly clear they want CCOs to include alternative providers. To quote the Nov. 10, 2011 OHA-OHPB Bulleting, "There is a strong desire for the CCO system to include alternative providers such as naturopaths and chiropractors..." We must have non-discrimination language in the "Transformation Bill" that does not allow CCOs to discriminate against any health care provider practicing within their scope, licensure, or certification. These are just suggestions....give me yours and get your clients, patients, colleagues and students emailing the Oregon Health Policy Board NOW!
