-- Antalgia Question

Hi Gang,I don't know why but I am having a tough time with a patient that has antalgia to the left without any radiculopathy or disc signs. All focal low back pain at L5-S1.Any technique suggestions or something I might be overlooking.I have done, drop, diversified, F/D, some CBP techniques even IFC and laser.....improved but not gone with treatment over the past week....Suggestions....Garreth MacEugene

Check PsoasCheck Atlas - lovett brother to L5. Remember to not only look at the area of pain.I'd also check feet, knees, hips, T/L, Cranium and TMJ and intestines

Janet's got good advice ... my only addition would be to block him prone first (takes out the torque on the disc). skSunny Kierstyn, RN DC Fibromyalgia Care Center of Oregon 2677 Willakenzie Road, 7CEugene, Oregon, 97401541- 654-0850; Fx; 541- 654-0834www.drsunnykierstyn.com CC: To: docgumby30@...From: bodytalk@...Date: Wed, 21 Dec 2011 20:14:20 -0800Subject: Re: Antalgia Question

I had one case that I pigeon holed myself into believing there was

no possibility that there could be a disc herniation, as there were

no real radicular signs or symptoms, and I was absolutely sure the

case was a simple SI sprain, with antalgia.  oops, was I ever

wrong.  An MRI showed a large L5/S1 herniation.

So, my suggestion would be to second guess even your best gut

instinct on these stubborn cases and send the patient out for an MRI

to be sure of what you are dealing with.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with Sunny. Lower block may need to angle down - Category III
