Since you went to Cleveland CC you may not be familiar with manual Eustachian tube release . I have done a lot of it. It is not a comfortable proceedure for the patient but it is quick[ a few seconds] and effective. It is definitely old school hands on Osteopathy also done by DCs and NDs. It has also been called endonasal and the Muncie Technique and I even have Muncie's book, speaking of old school DOs. I can show it to you. Appa DC ND who use to teach at WWSC did it frequently. Van Rumpt DC ND did it a lot and worked for a DO doing it back in the 1920s in Chicago. I think Ted is joking about the Graston instrument. Call me or

email.

Hi Docs,

I had a call from a potential new patient yesterday, he had some symptoms that I have not encountered before.

Constant fullness feeling in ears.

Frequent "cracking and popping" sound and feeling coming from his eustacian tubes and middle ears bilaterally, as if "he hears air trying to go into the tubes".

Constant swallowing, trying to pop or relieve pressure and cracking in tubes.

He has been to acupuncturists, has had manual adjustments to his upper cervicals by chiropractors, and has been to 2 or more ENT's, all without success, or very limited temporary success.

He even mailed away and got a kit that let him inflate balloons in his nose to try to relieve the pressure, he did this every day for 2 weeks without any relief, so he was frustrated with it and stopped using it. I would have too!

He is not a scuba diver.

He has had this constantly for 2 years.

He says it began when he blew his nose especially hard 2 years ago, and thinks that some infected mucous got forced into his eustacian tubes (is this even possible?)

He mentions that he has a crossbite and feels that his somehow may contribute.

I have not accepted his case yet.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Matt
