Greg Stanley talks about price point for chiropractic care (of course ignored when insurance distorts it.)

He says that patients might pay higher for our care but not recommend us to friends if it’s too high. (I don’t always follow his reasoning.)

We offer a top quality omega 3 fatty acid for about $30 per month (yes, patients want to know what it costs per month, not per 45 days, not 78 days...)

I’m not shy about telling people that quality costs money and if you want a cheap car paint job, go to Earl Scheib and get one you lowlife.

At some point however, even the most wealthy patients thank me for recommending supplements and head out secretly to Costco, Rite Aid GNC, or Whole Foods.

Somewhere between Centrum /One A Day junk and Cadillac Vitamins is a happy spot.

It seems like the magic drop-off is around $30/month for multivitamins.

My wife has this habit of impulsively buying supplements at Costco and Rite Aid when she has a sense of caring for her family’s hair (both wanted and unwanted!) teeth, nails, etc. Drives me nuts.

What do your patients pay per month for supplements?

I’m going to start asking.

Multivitamin recommendation

We always sold Spectrient (full spectrum nutrients†) from Integrative, Inc.

The price has gone up a lot and patients are asking why they can’t just take Kirkland brand from Costco (inexpensively made from ground up Costco competitors!)

Can anyone recommend a standard multivitamin/mineral for regular health maintenance?

Do docs really do ingredient research vs. price on supplements or do we just like the rep.?

Thanks,

I feel ya ,

We too offer some very high quality fish oils which we charge 35$ per bottle= per month. They include glucosamine and collagen and we try to explain to folks that if you add it up, you’re saving money by going this route, and have a superior product. However, many times I know they are going elsewhere for a better deal. I actually had a very “well off†patient attempt to bring the opened bottle back to me after taking a few pills saying “she just can’t take thisâ€...no reasoning, just can’t take them??? sigh. I did say “attemptâ€, for I couldn’t take it back.

They move, but slowly. I make about enough to supply myself for free.

Price is always a concern. We get them started on the minerals at ~ 19 - 33/month..... the rest of the components of the drink I encourage them to go generic and simple substance, meaning no multi-substance compounds. B is the only one they learn to keep together. Their total can be ~ 30 - 50/month ....... when they are as sick as so many are and I'm the last stop, they tend to start and 2 weeks is enough to show them about the possibility of living in their bodies again. That keeps 'em going. A periodic slip of forgetfulness of 3 days or more allows them to feel the difference of the nutrient saturation vs living again in the body that didn't have it. After about 3 months, it gets to the point where, beside the minerals, there is only one substance that needs to be replaced each month. The mineral brands I recommend are both MLMs (of which we are not a part) and patients are given that info. If they choose to join either organization, cost on the minerals can go down to ~ 13 - 23/bottle/month. When the benefits are experienced, the funds somehow seem to become available. That is one of the several ways we determine a patient's probable prognosis, is how many times we hear the word 'can't' versus watching the action of 'finding the way' to make it happen.....scantily perhaps, but put it together as best as possible. Taming fibromyalgia, in this office, at least, is a dual participation project ... it takes both the patient and I do get her/him back into their life. We've had people walk away because of that. You can't get rid of systemic inflammation with an oral pH of 5.5 with 1000 mg of vitamin C/day and I am no longer willing to spin my wheels with people who think that way. That's not fair to either of us. So yes, cost is a problem, but I can't eliminate it .... just keep it as low as possible.Interestingly enough, a recent find of a compact little 8-oz carton of coconut water, kept in our refrig andhanded out as a possible base for the morning POWER drink, is receiving GREAT attention. From Wilderness Family Naturals. (I add this to point out that we are finding that , once they are brought to understanding the importance of the need for therapeutic dosages of nutrients, you'll be able to watch them willingly reach for even higher levels. It's great fun to watch!) We sell the Coromega fish oil gels which are great tasting

(no fishy taste). They come in little packets and you just

tear off the top and squeeze the gel into your mouth or out

it on toast, etc. Their new Tropical flavor with vitamin D3

is yummy. You can get set up with them as a retail outlet

and get their products wholesale. They even have versions

for kids, including a gummy chewable. Just go to

www.coromega.com.
