Guest guest
Hi, Just thought of sharing my Lemon Verbena tincture. Is it ok, if I put only dry leaves for my tincture. What is the diference if I use the fresh leaves? My question is which makes a better tincture? Thanks, Angi

I adore lemon verbena, but until I found out all the details and sussed them out properly, I'd leave the lemon verbena for potpourris, sachets, room sprays, etc. -- Sincerely, Anya Anya's Garden of Natural Perfume http://AnyasGarden.com - rare and exotic aromatics and artisan perfumes, perfumery classes and consultation Natural Perfumers Guild http://NaturalPerfumersGuild.com
Guest guest
Anya, Thanks for the information. I had no idea of it. I still havent blend anything with my lemon verbena EO which I bought recently. But I would love to read more about it. So that I can be on safe ground! Also check out http://tonyburfield.co.uk to see if he has anything on lemon verbena. The EO can be very sensitizing, although I have never used it myself, so I'm just referencing other sources who warn against its use on the skin. -- Sincerely, Anya Anya's Garden of Natural Perfume http://AnyasGarden.com - rare and exotic aromatics and artisan perfumes, perfumery classes and consultation Natural Perfumers Guild http://NaturalPerfumersGuild.com

THis mission has herb gardens and as a young girl - a young Girl Scout, I should say - I went on tours that included education on the various plants grown there. Lemon verbena was one of my favorites - during the summer breaks I often walked the two miles to the Mission and picked the leaves from the trees, crushed them between thumb and forefinger and just *inhaled*. There were a lot wonderful smells at the mission - one tree whose flowers made suds when mixed with water actually had a light, soapy scent; plants like lavender, chamomile, sage, manzanita; not to mention the goats, pigs, donkeys and horses, the old leather furniture and tack in the display rooms. I think a lot of my scent memories and preferences come from Mission La Purisima. There isn't anything else quite like it to me. I would love to use it in a perfume product, but the idea of phototoxicity is pretty frightening...I'm so glad you brought it up.

Guest guest
Cecile, janita and everyone Hi, last night I went to check my lemon verbena tincture. It has been sleeping in the jar for 4 days now. When I opened the jar, the first scent was so pleasant and already had a nice lemon verbena smell. I was very surprised because I have been crazy tincturing everything and I found that the dried leaves of lemon verbena gave a nice lemon verbena smell so fast. I have oakmoss tincture, but it still has alcohol smell! I plan to used all the tinctures to creat a nice perfume blend with them....need to know which to use! Just for experimentation. Guest guest
Yes I have! hahahah I feel like an artist! :0) I can control the scent, give it a stronger scent or a lighter scent. And it is like creating something from nature, like trying to steal the scent naturally! Lots of Fun, and lots of time and patience is needed!
