Can CA's perform soft tissue work?

Hi Docs,

So, being new to the world of employing chiropractic assistants and other staff, I have a few questions I was hoping to get advice on. I know someone else asked a similar question late last week, but I didn't see a response to that email, thus the repeat.

I recently hired a CA for my office, who is also a recent LMT graduate. She has taken her written LMT examination and is scheduled for her practical examination in August. She has an active OR chiropractic assistant license already.

My question, after having read OR 811-010-0110 "Chiropractic Assistants," as regards scope of practice, is this:

What is the scope for CAs to provide soft tissue therapies? How is this different from massage therapy provided by an LMT, other than being directly supervised by the DC at all times?

I have also perused the OBCE website looking for more direct answers and didn't see anything.

If someone could provide guidance and maybe some links to reference material on this subject, I would be most grateful. If my new employee could be providing soft tissue therapy to patients under her CA license while we are waiting for her LMT licensure, I know my patients would be very happy.

Many thanks for your advice and assistance. As always, I am grateful to have this venerable group of docs at my disposal.

Sincerely,
