Guest guest
Last Saturday, after while shopping for food I had another episode similar to the ones I had back in August. This time I was shopping for groceries and felt dizzy, weak and like I couldn't breath. I had pain in my right arm and leg, followed by numbness. I also had a stabbing pain in the back of my head. I was sent to the ER at St Lukes South and given a CT and EKG. The EKG was normal the CT scan showed a pale area in my brain and demyelization. It also showed possible damage to the white matter in my brain. I was scheduled for an MRI the following Tuesday morning and Doctor's visit right after. The MRI showed demyelization, more than is normal for a woman my age, and two leasons. But it was inconclusive as to cause. Thursday I saw the Neurologist and he wants to rule out MS. For the next month I will go through some testing, starting with more blood tests. I will have an MRI done of my spine/neck with certain dye contrasts, I had an Eccocardiograph of my heart and doppler or my carotid artery. In addition I have to go through some response tests (SSEP VEP) to test my nerve response in vision and legs. So far he says I have demyelization disease which may be a result of the acute allergic reaction I had in August. If this is so then the symptoms will naturally dissipate and I will go back to normal. This is my hope. He is a really great Doctor. He spent 2 hours with me and then at the end he said, " I will pray for you. " I had mentioned the Eccocardiograph of my heart and doppler or my carotid, my arteries were clear and clean. In my heart they found a possible PFO Patent foramen ovale and they need to do a TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram) next week. They are going to put a camera down my throat. Back in August, 15th actually I had what was termed as a systemic reaction to my allergy shots. Couldn't breath and went to the hospital a couple of times. Then things calmed down again. I have had so many health problems which started when I was 20 or so. Thyroid, Graves disease, thyroid cancer, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, allergies and asthma, cervical displasia and now this. I have three tests next week. I am taking my 5 year old in for his shots this week too. Dawn
