Guest guest
....interesting, "targeting DC's who are too busy to provide wellness education in their practice". BS! I provide wellness education to virtually every patient. I received one of these letters and they listed one patient of mine they had sent info to. I had last seen him 8 months prior for an episode of rib dysfunction associated with excessive road biking. He did well with care, which included soft tissue work and exercise. Saw him 4 x for the complaint! Wow, I really contributing to those skyrocketing healthcare costs. Now, on another note, I play basketball 2x/wk with a bunch of old farts. One guy got an elbow to he head, right above the eye. Massive hematoma, no LOC but "dazed". Felt pretty crappy later in the evening, went to urgent care, had brief work-up, MRI of brain, 2 anti-nausea pills dispensed ($75 for the pills), diagnosis of mild concussion and no other treatment of plan. Priceless? No, it was $5400 for the visit. Wonder if he got counsel from his insurer, "stop playing bball you old fool!"? The program has been offered for the past 2 years to MDs (cardiologists, endocrinologists, family practice) in the areas of diabetes and hypertension mgmt). Guest guest
Today, I was a "proud recipient" of the "Dear colleague" ODS letter announcing and asking my support for the "ODS Spine and Joint Care health coaching program." I called the number listed and spoke with "Trixie" and asked how many chiropractors were coaching; she said none. I asked how many orthopedic physicians and she said none. I asked how many sports-trained individuals there were on the coaching staff and she said none. She did say there was a naturopath on staff, but there didn't seem to be any special qualifications for his/her status as a coach. HMMM. If these folks have no special training, how can they be "coaches?" Christian Mathisen, DC, CCWFN 3654 S Pacific Hwy Medford, OR 97501 cmathdc@... Guest guest
I went to their website. DC’s are listed under Medical, subcategory alternative providers. They list 6 docs for our office who are no longer here, one from back in the 90’s and one who left in 2001! Larry L.
