Guest guest
Hey. I saw that another poster got advice on her daily menu, and I decided to ask for advice in that area, too! I am a vegetarian, so mine might look a little different. I want to see the scale move, so maybe I need to change something... Meal 1: fruit and some roasted peanuts Meal 2: cereal, soy milk, blueberries Meal 3: salad with cucumbers, red beans, sunflower seeds, garbanzo beans and dressing Meal 4: BFL bar Meal 5: Oatmeal with a little brown sugar and a little butter Meal 6: Piece of whole grain bread with T of Natural peanut butter Thanks! Guest guest
Are you vegan ? I would say you need to add more protein to your meals. M1 can you substitute a protein shake? M2 high protein cereal like South beach? M3 can you add tofu? M4 the high carb one? M5 there is not protein M6 From what I've read yes peanut butter has protein but it considered more of a fat, > Hey. Guest guest
I would definitely recommend more protein. Do you eat any dairy? If so I would add some cottage cheese to the menu. Or a protein shake if not.... > Hey. I saw that another poster got advice on her daily menu, and I > decided to ask for advice in that area, too! Guest guest
Hi Beth, I'm going to echo everyone else here and point out that you definitely need more protein. I'm a vegetarian, too, and I know it can be challenging. I have found that soy is your friend. :-) I eat a lot of tofu, both baked and fresh. I also use meat substitutes, both soy based and Quorn, as well. Small servings of nuts will give you both a healthy fat (walnuts=omega-3) and added protein. I am ovo-lacto, so I have cottage cheese and yogurt every day, as well as eggs a couple of times a week. Redondo > Hey. Guest guest
If you don't want to go that heavy on eggs and dairy, you can use more tofu, protein shakes, meat substitutes and soy-based bars. Be sure to check out the Morningstar Farms products. I would fix up your menu like so: Meal 1: fruit and tofu scramble w/tomato, peppers, onions, mushrooms Meal 2: protein shake with blueberries Meal 3: salad with spicy black bean burger Meal 4: BFL bar Meal 5: oatmeal with 4 veggie breakfast links Meal 6: string cheese (or soy cheese), apple with peanut butter I don't know if you've seen my week of meatless meals: http://www.skwigg.com/id58.html It might give you some more ideas. To answer the question " Are you vegan? " I'd have to say no, but I don't really want to eat a lot of dairy, so I guess the answer is really, yes, but not all the way! I know people are usually ALL the way one way or the other, but the only thing I want to be strict about is no SUGAR, or MEAT, and very little white stuff, like white rice, flour, and very little dairy. So I will really have to work hard at the protein part. Thanks again for all of the suggestions. I will have to try new things...I am new at being a vegetarian. Beth P. Guest guest
Hey, and all who are trying to help me do the vegetarian version of BFL: Thanks for all the suggestions. I went out and bought my first package of tofu, and have been looking up recipes in my Southern Living Cookbook index!!! Tofu is as foreign to me as grits may be to some of you!!! But I'm willing to experiment for the sake of BFL!!! I'll keep you posted...Beth P. --------------------------------- Sell on Auctions - No fees. Bid on great items.
