Guest guest
Beth, Welcome to vegetarian-dom--it's a fine place to be! I've been one for 12 years now, and completed my first BFL challenge about a month ago--with good results. It is definitely do-able, you just have to sort of get creative with your food choices after awhile. Definitely check out 's site. I also got a copy of Eating For Life and went through and found recipes I could easily substitute veggie-friendly products for the meat. Here are some of the things I ate, and still eat, regularly: Of course, cottage cheese & Egg Beaters, as best disguised as I could, Morningstar Farms veggie sausage patties--bought in bulk at Costco (awesome!) Morningstar Farms grillers recipe crumbles (subst. for ground beef, turkey, etc.)--I put it in spaghetti sauce, soft tacos, burritos, stuffed peppers, etc. Morningstar Farms grillers prime--in my opinion, the best veggie burger out there. Quorn " chik-n " tenders--pretty darn good in a spinach, apple & walnut salad, but pretty pricey unless it's on sale. Those are the best choices as far as protein vs. carb counts. A lot of the other products are a bit carb heavy if you are going to eat an additional carb on the side. Of course there is always the good quality protein bar to help fill in a meal here and there (I never could do the shakes, but you might be able to). My alltime favorite BFL meal, I think though, is cottage cheese sprinkled with a teaspoon or so of sugar-free vanilla pudding powder, and a sliced Fuji apple. Yum! Hope this helps you a little and good luck, ~Candy -- Needing ideas Good morning everyone. I am a vegetarian, and I am only on Day 4 of my 2nd challenge. I am not currently tired of what I'm eating, but I'm looking for ideas of things to eat so I can avoid getting tired of everything. I just started being a vegetarian recently, so I'm new to that, too. Really the only thing I'm not eating is meat, but I'm still eating cheese and eggs. Of course, I'm not eating any sugar now, b/c of wanting to lose weight. I've been eating things like cereal with fruit and vanilla soy milk, natural peanut butter on whole grain bread, salads with boiled eggs and a little dressing, etc. I love all of that, but I need some more ideas. I know about cottage cheese things, and I like that okay, but I really don't want to load up on a lot of dairy products. Any ideas? Also, what exercises work the hamstrings? (Not machine exercises.) I can't do the deadlifts, b/c I have struggled with bad back issues since my early twenties when I lived in Paris (I'm a French teacher) and lugged suitcases all around the city moving from pillar to post. (It was worth it- ahhh the good old days.) THANKS!!!! DAY 4, here I come. Beth P.
