Guest guest
iel Hi hi..... I was wondering how your doppelganger of lily is coming on ? I got mine out as I treated myself to a bunch of tiger and pink lilys.... and they are cut short in a round Maureen Minchine bowl so now they are all open it is a mass of beautifully coloured fragrant heads of deep and pale pink quite quite exquisite.... Mine is strong and I wonder to myself that it might benefit now with a touch of dilution and maybe something else.... as with the fresh I can smell something else.. how about you? Guest guest
> Well depending on the type of lily all these additions should prove mighty interestin' > I am going for not candidum that is for another time and more research first.... this is for the tiger lily it is honouring for my mom and pop especially at this time... and you iel? > Janita Its been ages since I've actually tinkered with liquid blending. I did start some tinctures a few weeks ago and have been patiently waiting for my vanilla and musk seed to hurry up and finish! These past 2 months have seen me immersed in the world of incense making and studying a massive historical codex! I was up until midnight last night mixing all kinds of resins, woods, and herbs. My kitchen table is an orderly disater today and the house smells of exotic far away dreams! Anyhow, I've had to 'find' my droppers and my pepper EO and I've attempted some additions to the Lily milk blend. I started off by filling a 9/16 dram tester with the aged Lily milk and added 7 drops of Jasmine grandiflorum tincture, 2 drops of black pepper EO, and 1 tiny drop of nutmeg oil. The result is even spicier! Deliciouso! It seems to sparkle now. I thought about adding some bitter orange oil, but think I will hold off and see how these latest additions blend in. BTW, my blend actually has a milky opaque look. It started off that way months ago when I added the almond extract from my kitchen. Kind of cool in a Lily 'milk' kinda way! lol I was going to make a new blend using the rose concrete tincture I have, but realized I'm out of patchouli! For shame!! I've fallen behind on my EO's and fixed oils! I've been so absorbed these last past few months that supplies have run out or expired. I guess I'll be placing an order today. I hope we can come up with something truly amazing. Commemorative work should always have the passion of the artist within them along with those being honored. Especially when its for the ones who are so dear to us. iel

I think resins woods and herbs are very earthy and mystical...... BTW I have just ordered some of your kyphi through Ruth for DH birthday in October ....I figured I better get it now LOL...... but by the sounds of it you are already on this for the Christmas time...... can't wait Anyhow, I've had to 'find' my droppers and my pepper EO and I've attempted some additions to the Lily milk blend. I was a bit unsure....where you were going.. this sounds interesting... at the moment I have just added 1 drop of tuberose to the aged lily milk.... I wanted to see how this would morph.....so far I can pick up the more hedonistic notes which I am looking for.... tincturing nuances will come later....sometimes with these star gazers depending on what time of the day I pick up green, powdery and spicy notes.... the tuberose has dampened the almond which is good because at one point like you I was going to start again..with less almond.... the scent is still linear and needs rounding ....... I have had a few thoughts and ideas but need a bit of time to expand this...... I thought about adding some bitter orange oil, but think I will hold off and see how these latest additions blend in. BTW, my blend actually has a milky opaque look I havnt taken a proper look at the colour it is in dark green glass bottle with gold cap... with lily doppelganger written on it... and I have scribbled the addition in my precious book that has all in.... I must get my special formulas written away....and copied because if anything happened to the red book ....... yowza .....years of work down the drain.. I still like the writing part and sometimes the paper smells of my efforts and its lovely.... . It started off that way months ago when I added the almond extract from my kitchen. Kind of cool in a Lily 'milk' kinda way! lol I was going to make a new blend using the rose concrete tincture I have, but realized I'm out of patchouli! For shame!! > I had spilled a lot of patchouli in my last studio and kept it in glass because I couldn't bear to throw it away... but I have also discovered some that I had bought in Hereford from a local supplier that is now ... yep nine years old... and oh my ohmy the difference from a younger is so noticeable.... I would suggest to anyone to buy2 lots and put one away and let it age. I hope we can come up with something truly amazing. Especially when its for the ones who are so dear to us. iel >>> well said my friend..... and yes.... as we all know it is time and slow in true tradition... but hopefully the outcome as you say may be amazing.... from one simple doppelganger blueprint maybe a beautiful extension will be built..... Guest guest
Hey Janita! Where are you at?!! One month ago I decided to add 7 drops of Rose extrait to the blend and opened it up today for a whiff...oh my! The single drop of nutmeg oil has really done something wondrful to it. Somehow I don't think I have much of a 'lily' scent anymore, but it is yummy. The dry down is very oriental. All of the base notes are popping out today. The tiny bit of patchouli and clove. The new rose extrait addition(made from tinctured concrete) is sticking longer, almost lasting into the base notes! I am also tinkering with the modified blend that uses Davana instead of the original geranium called for in the beginning. This seems to be playing well with the rose and lemon notes. Hows yours doing? iel

Hows yours doing? iel HI iel Sorry..... Family crisis...... still here although intermittent at present. Still on the lily trail...... I have worked more cautiously ...... added a touch of tuberose awhile back.... given fullness..... but I am still not happy.... there is a slight soapy smell .....next a touch of ylang and some black or pink pepper tincture will smell them both first to see..... but I will have to order pink as I have none at present...there is also almost a candied sweetness... will have to buy another stargazer to check.... I think some modification will be needed .... Your new path sounds wonderful...... keep it up....I like the sounds of the nutmeg and the rose extrait from the tinctured concrete... I have also found rose concrete likes it in the base notes ...... I have used it in a floriental and a soliflore..... both with excellent results.... sounds like with what you are doing you are building a whole new perfume ...... wonderful... The oriental drydown ..... with patchouli and clove a classic..... Davana in the modified version sounds very interesting ..... Take care and keep me posted on your developments, iel it all sounds great. I will do the same and keep reminding me.... bit scattered at present... lol.. every good wish, Janita http://www.hayspace.co.uk --------------------------------- For ideas on reducing your carbon footprint visit For Good this month.
