Guest guest
Hello, I have had numerous off line comments and questions about the mandatory reporting law. First and foremost it is MANDATORY. If you fail to report under this law YOU can be penalized. You are to report prohibited or unprofessional conduct. You do NOT need to think about anything other than if the conduct is prohibited or unprofessional. If the conduct is ‘criminal’ it is prohibited. If the conduct jeopardizes the patients health, safety or welfare, including that of a born or unborn child, it is unprofessional. You do NOT need to investigate anything. It us up to the boards to investigate and review with experts knowledgeable of the issue ie radiology, obstetrics, internal medicine etc. and rule. All you have to do is report. Each profession most likely has their own complaint form to fill out. As a mandatory reporter you are kept confidential. I reported reckless conduct of an Oregon licensee to Oregon and to another state. The person I reported then was involved in a death in Oregon. I did my duty. s. fuchs dc
