Guest guest
Civet Tagetes Costus The last two I use, often, to great effect I think, but on their own, they get under my skin. Civet reminds me of piss, to be frank.
Guest guest
Civet .. __, Ahhh the smell of Ferrets.... Thank goodness I don't have to use that one (although *** " tincture " of prepubescent tween ranks right up there with that one...) EWEWEWEWE... I'm sure that is in some manufactured perfumes out there. (where else they gonna get human phermones from?) {No I really do not want to know...} *** that smell that is in my laundry room when thing one decides not to use underarm deoderant.*** I myself am allergic to patchouli, and it makes me pass out... (hypoxic reaction to it .. Might be a past life thing.) then theres something I smelled called africa stone and that is skat (if you don't know what skat is it's a nice word for poop.)but I can attest when added in small amounts can cause a perfume to be right on. Olfactory wise.)_._,___
Guest guest
hops Just wondering, does it smell like the flower, cause if it does... Aye, can agree with that. FOOT smells better. (I wonder if a valerian oil would smell as pungent as the herb...) One more thing I won't be perfuming with...

It did, but in a bad way for me! LOL Following closely on patchouli is Silver fir, another old oil I have that smelt like vomit when I first opened the bottle. Not opened that one for a long, long time.! For a while I struggled with geranium, but find now if I get it in the right dilution its OK'ish. It wouldn't be one of the first I'd reach for tho... LLx (Off to open that Silver Fir - just to see if it's changed at all...)

I made it 4 months ago and thought it would soon start smelling better but it hasn't. But it is still interesting to me to smell something that was used in Ancient Egypt. I think adding a drop of patchouli to a blend can take you to another time and place.

FOOT smells better. I got some hops EO (maybe absolute?) and was incredibly disappointed. I can tell it's hops, but it's nothing like the actual flower. Beer brewing is a VERY complicated science, so I imagine it would take more than just a distillers skills to get the essence right. To me, fresh hops on the vine are right up there with orange-blossom-- totally transports me.
