My name is Jenn. I'm 30 yrs old and my mom has been suffering with adhesions/short bowel syndrome and intestinal problems off and on since 2001. It's a long and complicated story. Basically, she had a routine surgery to remove a cyst on her ovary in 2001, developed a small bowel obstruction and required a 2nd surgery a wk later. She ended up having most of her small bowel removed and has had problems ever since. She had to have surgery again in 2003 & 2005 due to adhesions complications. She feels good for about a yr and a 1/2 each time and then the symptoms reoccur. Currently, she is having constipation, bloating where she looks 9 mos pregnant all the time, and abdominal pain. We have seen so many doctors and she is going through so many tests right now. They are not sure if adhesions are causing her symptoms again or there is something else wrong. Her colorectal surgeon said she might need to have another surgery and possibly remove more small bowel and/or her colon. This is very frustrating and hard to watch my mom suffer so much! She is on so much medication now that she is unable to work and depressed. It wears on us both, especially when her illness is so unpredictable and hard to get answers. Does anyone have experiences with intestinal disorders? I am just looking to talk to people who understand because they are also dealing with an illness or the stress of being a caregiver. Please respond or email me. Thanks for listening! Jenn ******************************* Hi all,Thought I'd introduce myself.
