Guest guest
Hi , How did you make your tea absolute? Or is it an essential oil? I love the mixture of Lavender, chamomile and bergamot...one of my favorite mixtures! Angi

Hi , It sounds really nice but I would go easy on the tea absolutes. Tea absolute is a sensitiser which means that you could develop a very strong reaction to it at any time. Maybe you could balance out the base notes with something else. You could also try a tea tincture which may be safer than the absolute. I'll check the archives to see if there are instructions for tincturing tea, I guess it would be the same for herbs.
Guest guest
I have a tincture of green tea brewing right now. I'll See how it goes. lmmsisco <lmmsisco@...> wrote: Hello all, I am usually lurking, but I did mention a few weeks ago, that I would report on how my creation, Tea Time is doing. I think it's great! I used the tea absolutes Rooibos, Green and Black, as well as absolutes Honey, Jasmine Grand and Jasmine Sambac. For the top notes, I used Bergamot, Roman Chamomile and Lavendar--most of the great aromatics that make a good cup of tea! It's a sweet floral and I have not experienced any irritation from the tea absolutes. I am trying to make a version not quite as sweet with less Honey and using the Pomegranate absolute. I wrote about this a while back when I was tincturing tea. You put your tea into boiling water for ten seconds and squeeze it out before putting it to tincture. That removes most of the caffeine. I have this gorgeous organic green tea from the Seychelles and yesterday night was looking at it and thinking about trying to tincture it. However, I don't know whether to use alcohol or oil or maybe just try to make a hydrolate out of it. I don't want to spoil this tea as it is really precious. Anyway, I am curious to find out HOW those absolute teas you have actually smell and where does one find tea absolutes around? I have coffee and cocoa absolutes but to this day, have never heard of tea absolutes. I have heard of tea extracts through distillation and in France, when they exist, they are definitely laboratory-reproduced... I see many French perfume houses using green tea in their fragrances. Apparently it gives a green and aromatic note. Anyone knows a reliable supplier for tea absolutes? Thank you Isabelle www.lilymoon.co.uk Isabelle and Hi Green Tea....... interesting... now I know that is extremely good for one.... so would I be correct in summising that this would be safer to use than the black and other teas that are recommended not to use... I know IFRA are funny about teas and they have either restricted them or banned them...can't remember will have to look up on their site... but green tea is a different ball game altogether..... so I can't see there would be any problem with that. I know that green tea has really great health benefits when you drink it steeped in water but the absolute is so concentrated that it is a different thing all together. I seem to remember some discussions with Tisserand about tea absolute a little while back. I asked him if a tincture would be safe and he thought that it would be fine.
