Guest guest
Willow, I was banned because I referred someone to the American Diabetes Assoc., Mayo Clinic, and a food list categorizing carbohydrate. Since then I have realized that there were no good answers to posters questions simply because the people with knowledge were either banned or gave up in disgust. But the internet is a big world. I may need to restrict my activity on this site because it is so active and I see lots of things I would like to reply to. Betty from Willow > Hello All ; )> > Well, today has not been great. Guest guest
Sounds illegal to me. Sue For a REALLY HOT time check out http://www.peternoone.com and http://www.mikesmith1964.com from Willow Hello All ; )Well, today has not been great. I got banned fromanother list - one for chronic pain people - becauseone of my handicaps (brain injury, memory problems)made it difficult for me to remember all the thingsthey expected you to do before sending a reply to apost. They wanted me to change the subject, make sureall my paragraphs were short and edit out all but asentence or two of the post I was responding to - justenough to ID the post. I might remember 2 of 3, butthat wasn't good enough. There was only one moderatorthat I was a problem for. None of the others ever sentanything back. One was enough to throw me out.It had been a very long time since I got involved withInternet groups. I had learned a lot from that list inthe short time I was a member. I felt like with mymedical/pharmacy background, I had something to giveas well. Banning me because of my handicaps seems theheight of hypocracy to me. If I am quiet for a while,I have not gone anywhere. I'm just assimilating theexperience.Willow
Guest guest
Sue,Because the internet is so international, a list moderator can ban someone from their list for any reason they like, even if it's just " I don't like <person>, " and it's not illegal.... It's extremely rude, but not illegal. It really drives me crazy when people get THAT freaked out about the list rules, though. My Partner, , has been " warned " by the moderators of one list several times because he has used " the 's' word, " not directed toward someone, but in reference to having bowel movements! That, I think, is ridiculous! I own two lists, and used to co-moderate two others in addition. Aside from the fact that all but one of the groups has/had restricted membership, there are/were very few other " list rules. " Sure, I might sometimes send out reminders asking people not to repost entire conversation threads, but the only reason I've ever banned anyone was due to complaints of sexual harassment. Guest guest
I have had the same problem from a BIG migraine list that I was on. I tend to lurk now and gain some friends but once they find out that I am lurking they keep banning me. It is like the few people that I made co moderator turned on me and now they are being very childish. I mean, I thought most lists are for SUPPORT, that means, no matter what kind of day you are having they accept you. I ended up creating my own group. Don't feel badly, it happens to us all, just some others won't accept that we are human and can make mistakes " esp " when we are sick.
