Greetings from Singapore:

As a fan in the use of natural or plant based stuff, I am naturally attracted

to your natural perfumery group. Even though I have used essential oils mainly

for therapeutic purposed, I hope to learn from you all as I'm new to the art and

science of perfumery.

Besides aromatherapy, my other interests are herbs, flower remedies, massage,

acupuncture.

I was looking for Aftel Mandy's book -- Essence and Alchemy in our local

library, but it was not in stock. So I just ordered a copy fromm Amazon. Is this

book a good start to NP? Any other recommendation?

My range of EOs are quite small, what are the oils that I should stock to get

started?

Cheers and Best regards,

Soon-Lyej

Welcome Soon Lyej,

It sounds like you will fit right in with this group!

You have definitely ordered the best book to get you

started. Mandy Aftel's book is the one we all

recommend to anyone who is interested in natural

perfumery. The book will give you great suggestions

on a starter set of oils or you can order a starter

set directly from Mandy Aftels website: Aftelier.com.

Enjoy the group!

I've just done a search for 'Singapore' and your post came up.

I also bought Mandy's book from Amazon and it's a fantastic start.

I did, however, start my EO and absolute collection with Liberty Naturals in the

US...it was

a little cheaper.....but a bit more of a hastle pulling together the order. Plus

htere's the

danger that you gop crazy with ordering when you see the huge amount on offer.

I also purchase from New Directions in Sydney as the shipping is less than from

the States.

There are a couple of books in the Singapore National Library which I've found

interesting...one called 'Create Your Own Perfumes' byu Chrissie Wildwood. It

gives you

blend suggestions that you can use to develop your own creations.

Talk soon

, I think you're responding to Soon-Lye. She's a student in my

online course that starts in a week, and I don't think she saw this, so

I'll pass your message on to her. She is concerned about sourcing stuff,

so maybe you two can team up.
