Guest guest
Dear colleagues, More good news House Bill 4027 passed out of the House Health Committee today and is headed for the House for a floor vote. This is the bill we captured and amended to include chiropractic physicians having immunity from liability for providing services without compensation to homeless individuals namely homeless veterans…those two terms taken together represent a travesty. Those who have served this nation being homeless simply doesn’t compute to me….homelessness in this great country is a travesty period. Our amending this bill stems from my impromptu meeting with a fellow in Bend, Oregon that spoke at the “Oregon Summit” which is the big democratic party function held every other year in Sunriver Oregon. He has a medical van that goes out to service specifically homeless veterans and when he spoke of this it took just about one nanosecond for me to raise my hand in the room to inform him that chiropractic physicians in the Bend area would absolutely step up and help and should be included in his bill…he was quite excited and agreed and was to give me a heads up and communicate with me prior to the session. Well he apparently forgot, I however did not and amended his bill to include us. In addition to being a wonderful service to our homeless veterans this will also give us as a profession very positive notoriety as per being willing to contribute to the common good and showing our appreciation for veterans and humanism regarding the plight of the homeless in this great country. To that end and never allowing an opportunity to pass us by I’m attempting to get a House member to stand and deliver for us as per thanking the chiropractic profession for being willing to step up for the common good……and every member in the house will hear him……good stuff…. Blessings, Vern
