Guest guest
A lot of prescription drugs are loaded with fluorine, including most of the anti-depressants. Fluorine replace iodine in the body's tissue. The result is low thyroid function which causes weight gain, low energy, and more depression. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ --------------------------------- WOW! Thank you, Kit! I had come to some similar conclusions about fluorine/fluoride ions displacing the other halides, all of which are bigger (look at the Periodic Table of Elements -- http://www.webelements.com/) recently when I saw the structure of fluoxetine a.k.a Prozac. I had (erroneously) assumed that the 'fluo' referred to an attribute of fluorescence, NOT to the presence of fluoride. Having been hospitalised several times for severe depression, over the course of a lifetime, I was overjoyed to have discovered/been put on fluoxetine 22 years ago. I have from time to time been 'without' due to financial constraints and it didn't take long for me to be in Deep Dark Trouble. Now that it is available generically (what used to be the cost for a 2-day supply, will now cover a MONTH!) that is no longer a problem. I AM fortunate that the single Rx has served me well over the years -- I know some folk who have been on a not-so-merry-go-round to keep afloat. In my case, it ain't been broke, so I didn't fix it. The last dozen years have seen increase of symptoms consistent with Lyme Disease and fibromyalgia. Now some thyroid symptoms are making themselves known. Well, I think they have always been there (low temp, low pulse, outer 1/3 eyebrow missing, fingernail shape, etc) I just never tied them all together wearing hypothyroid glasses. There is some good info on iodine supplementation here (http://www.wellnessresources.com/products/iosol_iodine.php?) I am not pushing the product at all, just sharing the info provided. I don't know if it is better/worse than Lugol's solution as a source of dietary iodine. I rather resent having to make a choice between treating the depression or treating the hypothyroidism! Is it so wrong, so selfish to want to feel well, to have a life? Thank you again for the Rense article! Jan/TN
