Hi !!!

How ya been doing??? Yes its terribly hot here also... I have every fan going and I still can't get it under 86 in the house... We got up to 97 today with a heat index of 107, some of the folks out west are hotter than this, and I don't know how they cope :o( Tomorrow is suppose to be worse

:o( Relief on the way for Thursday, Yayyyyy!!! I became nauseated this afternoon and kept trying to keep a cool rag wiping myself off all day. it was evening before I felt any relief... I walked outside to talk to hubby on the phone as with all these fans going I can't hear on the darn thing and after 3 min's., I had to come back in, I was sweating so bad and I never sweat! I'm always cold, but these last few weeks have changed that...

My husbands Mother is in the hospital again and again it doesn't look good... She doesn't recognize any one right now, she isn't talking, they said she didn't have another stroke, they are still looking into what is going on, she seems to be having seizures... She's been in now for a week since last Tues... Hope you all have central air! Wish I did...

Catch me up on how ya been!

One can place a pan of ice cubes in front of the fans, that cools the air, right now I have all the fans going, outside it is windy, the humidity is rising..and it is only 6.50a!

Yesterday I lay around all day, seems that being prone is more cooling and yes the temp remains at 86F, if I go out I start to get dizzy, its horrible..I find that cool, not iced drinks are better, too cold a drink can produce cramps it seems.

I'm alittle to the north of you. We're getting the samething here. I heard some thunder yesterday, and the wind kicked up. No rain. Akron, must have gotten it, because they had flash flood warnings. Remember your animals. If they are outside, bring them in (Or at least provide lots of FRESH WATER and SHADE). Too bad we can't all be as well off as Shatner. I read somewhere that he has a heated/airconditioned stable for his horses. We are in North Carolina and it is really hot here. We are under a

heat advisory until 7:00 this evening. I am staying in during the day

except when I take the dog out. We lost power this morning for over 2

hours. I walked to my neighbors house since I could not use the phone

and she told me that she had already called the power company. It's

back on now. Well I will go for now. Have a great day.

I misted everyone including the animals, put ice in front of the fans, the dog thinks the one on the floor is his own ice dish! :o) By 9 am here the heat index was at 104, we went from and advisory to a warning...

Hello HelenI may have told you this story before but years ago when i was a summer student out in Kinsella, Alberta; one of the oil field workers invited me to visit his trailer home.   It was stifling in the trailer home and the wife was complaining about being at the ends of her rope in trying to keep the children cool.   I asked if the water was being metered or billed by the tap and it was billed by the tap so I suggested that he put a lawn sprinkler on the tin roof.   That brought down the temperature incredibly quickly, faster and cooler than an air-conditioner would (larger surface area...).   Of course, if you want to "water" your house for any extended period of time, you'd want to run the water through a carbon filter first or the house will "lime" up.   Large carbon filters can be found in the hardware stores, you may want to ask them if they have anything like a "whole house filter" but smaller and less expensive (the big "whole house" ones cost about a hundred or so).Everyone seems to look down on evaporation for cooling as if it's inferior to "air-conditioning" but "air-conditioning" is also evaporation just in a closed loop.   Both evaporation based cooling and freon based "air-conditioning" can only drop temperature by about 20 degrees fahrenheit, if you have AC, just measure the temperature at the exhaust and the intake and you'll see this temperature difference.  An open fountain or a misting system will drop the temperature by 20 fahrenheit as well, watering the roof will actually drop it more because it basically evaporates on the outside (20 degrees drop there) but also cools the air on the inside which can then get much cooler depending on the surface area and the fact that the air inside is basically being re-cooled.Regards,On Aug 1, 2006, at 1:45 AM, angelbear1129@... wrote:Hi !!!  How ya been doing???  Yes its terribly hot here also...  I have every fan going and I still can't get it under 86 in the house...  We got up to 97 today with a heat index of 107, some of the folks out west are hotter than this, and I don't know how they cope :o(  Tomorrow is suppose to be worse:o(    Relief on the way for Thursday, Yayyyyy!!! Catch me up on how ya been!((( Cooling Hugs)))Momma Bear   I don't know about the rest of you all, but I'm in anarea of the Midwest that's experiencing really hottemperatures.
