Guest guest
I'm stumped - Ambreine #1 and #2, I so love them, and yet, they're my biggest challenge yet. I've tried all kinds of things, but I finally decided to ask the pros. The scent is so wonderful for a long time, and I realized quickly, that a very light hand is required in their use, but then it's sheer magic. The problem I keep running into, is the funk that develops long after drydown. It might be just what some are looking for - a botanical musk. But it's not my thing. What's worse, it lasts forever in clothes, and I've noticed, with warmer weather it's coming out of clothes that I thought were finally clean. Months and many washes later, without its use on them. Some scents I have created have only a very minimum amount of ambreine, not really noticeable, and wonderful - unless you're out in the sun, starting to sweat - then the funky is released. Time to put them away... I thought I had successfully included, as well as balanced, the funk, thinking there had to be a place for this smell, since musk is such a coveted item. Maybe it's just me <G> I'm almost at the point of accepting that I can only use it for room scents - in winter. What a shame this would be. Any input would be much appreciated Thanks, ne

Hi, ne. I don't have an answer for you but just had to chime in on this since I had logged in moments ago to post just this question. I've noticed the same sort of funk develops with my dried hylocerus flower tincture. When the fresh-smelling tincture from the inside of the jar is applied to skin, I don't notice a funk even 12 hours later (haven't tested beyond that), but any of it that runs down the jar ends up smelling like almost pleasantly unwashed " female parts " after a couple of days. And then there's something rank appearing in a very old vanilla extract I have. Whiffing the jar doesn't bring the aroma to the nose, but a drop on the skin will bring in out in seconds and OMG do I NOT want that. Smells like cheese, athlete's foot, moldy clothes, and very unpleasantly unwashed genitals. I'm thinking in the case of the non-ambriene items, either contamination or oxidation. Guest guest
RE: funk Maybe something could be added to create a fishy, shrimpy, or cheesy aroma... And then it could be called gourmand. LOL Jen

Some essences have beauty and the beast issues I guess. I pass on your " gourmet " suggestion though, but rather see if the " beast " can be tamed. Twelve hours in good scent is really nice for wearability. Might be another one best kept off clothes and hair however <BG> Good luck and good scents, ne
