Guest guest
I'm pretty sure this has been asked before, but it has come up at our team meetings recently. We follow-up with lap-band patients at 3 months, 6 months, and annually. Our band weight-loss success is in the 30% and we're trying to improve that. I was wondering what other programs are doing for RD post-op appointments? How often are you following these patients as dietitians?
Guest guest
We also see the post banders more frequently the first year. We see them at 2 weeks, 6 weeks (first adjustment possible at this visit) and monthly thereafter until they reach adequate restriction. We see all banders in 1 month after adjustment to evaluate effectiveness. I stress to pts that the more contact they have with our program the more successful they will be. At one Band training they shared a statistic that the most successful individuals saw their surgeon/program 10-12 times in the first year. We tend to see people every 4-6 weeks.
