I don't know scientifically the answer to your question, but by experience I can

tell you tha if there is caffeine, it is VERY minimal. I went on the Lemonade

fast for a few days and I was worried about caffein withdrawl. I had none.

Kombucha is the only think I eat or drink that may have caffein in it, but I had

absolutely no problem with withdrawl.

caffiene

So since i have been drinking GT's and caffiene isnt labeled, i feel

that it must not contain any ( iam breastfeeding) can anyone tell me if

there will be caffiene in my homebrew? I hope not...does the action of

the yeast, tea and sugar negate the caffiene and sugar????

any one know the answer to this?...or do i really need to use decaf

green tea (oxymoron) to start?

thanks so much

I have read that the caffeine doesn't change during brewing (isn't used up or

anything) and just recently I read it is. So, take your pick. ;o) I was

bothered by the caffeine in my brew and a couple members told me how to decaf

the tea (of course I forgot the last time or 2 even though I had it highlighted

in neon green to " decaf " *rolls eyes " ).

Anywho, I was instructed to steep the tea for 30 seconds before adding it to

the water (and sugar) for your brew.

Kombucha Tea = about 1/3 of the typical caffeine of a cup of a tea.

The presence of caffeine in tea does not produce unhealthy results due to

its combination with tea polyphenols.

Commercial Decaffeinated Tea uses Ethyl Acetate or methylene chloride, which

retains only 30% of the polyphenols, adds chemicals and loses the health

benefit. Natural method using water and CO2 retains 95% of the polyphenols

in tea and no chemicals. For teas to be labeled decaffeinated, the caffeine

content may not exceed 0.4% by dry weight, which is equivalent to

approximately 4 mg of caffeine per 170 ml serving. Regular tea has average

28–44 mg caffeine Coffee 100 mg per cup. (FDA 1980) Actual teas vary but

the general guidelines are an accurate guideline.

breastfeeding and kombucha do not mix but my daughter clammors for a

sip of mommys kombucha and seems to have no issues with my

consumption of kombucha...yerba mate bothered her and so did green

tea in the am...she just didnt sleep...i have been drinking

commercial gts and his bottle isnt labled as having caffiene, and by

law i think he has to if it is in there, so i am wondering about my

brew...I am not bothered in a caffiene way, but if i drink kombucha

too late-after 7- i am up...but the kombucha alerts me like that

whenever i drink it...it doesnt feel like a caffiene buzz to me

tho..so i am a bit confused...I have been chalking the energy that i

have been experiencing to the magic wonders of kombucha....It just

doesnt feel like a coffee buzz...waay better..awake but no

jitters...well, I am going with the small amount of caffiene

theory...thanks so much, kombucha on with your bad self!

Hi All,

We always tell our patients to choose decaffinated beverages post-op, one of

our surgeons promotes drinking caffiene. Does anyone know of any reference

articles to support either theory?

Let me know!

Thanks!
