Guest guest
Hi all I have a client that is 2 years out of bypass surgery and has done well so far. She is concerned now because she states she is doing everything she has always been doing as far as diet and exercise but has noticed a few pounds gain since going through menoupause. She also states that this change has caused more intense hunger on certain days even if her meal was larger than normal. She is very concerned about gaing the weight back. Anyone deal with similar issues with their clients? Any help would be appreicated. Thanks
Guest guest
I would say that her weight gain and increased hunger is also common for a 2 yr s/p gastric bypass; regardless of the menopause. I would encourage her to go back to food records to ensure that her calories have not crept up - 100 extra calories per day can add up to a 10 lb eight gain per year. I am not denying that menopause may contribute to eight gain/increase hunger but I not sure what you can do about this other than what you'd say to any other pt when this occurs: food records and calorie counting increased exercise ensure adequate protein and fiber at meals/snacks to enhance a sense of fullness wait 45-60 min after eating to drink fluids to keep food in pouch longer good luck, On Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 3:37 PM, andibukowski <andibukowski@...> wrote: Hi allI have a client that is 2 years out of bypass surgery and has done well so far.
