Well we go to the 2nd Ped. Ortho Specialist on Thursday.

I look forward to seeing the results of the x-rays and to see if it has

progressed or not (hopefully not!)

Any suggestions for questions would be greatly appreciated-

I have a list, I'm armed w/Mehta's article and all the info I've

learned, but just wanted to check and see if there was anything I

hadn't thought of!

The only bad thing is that it looks like Duke doesn't use casting-only

bracing and surgery for correction options-Not sure if that sounds good

or not-

Thanks in advance.

I agree with Jen. Make sure you pin them down on exactly how many "infants" they have treated and what sort of correction they have obtained. I would also ask if they believe surgery is inevitable at some stage or is their a chance it can be avoided. Many orthos are specialists in adolescent scoliosis but very few have had experience with infantile and fewer still are aware of Dr Mehta's casting techniques which are aimed at correction so that surgery is never needed. Take a notebook and jot down the responses. Take your husband if possible so you can really concentrate on the answers you are given and ask for clarification if the answers are not specific enough.
