There's been some talk lately about Vegetarianism and Paleolithic Nutrition.

The following link (that, I believe, surfaced on this list awhile ago) should

provide some interesting discussion:

<THE CORDAIN FILES--analysis from the front lines of Paleodiet research. It is a

rare researcher in the technical sciences who has not only the specific

knowledge, but the interdisciplinary breadth of vision and concern for practical

application to make their findings relevant to laypeople. Loren Cordain, Ph.D.,

Professor of Exercise and Sport Science at Colorado State University, admirably

combines these qualities and has in recent years gained recognition as one of

the more active figures pursuing research in the emerging cross-disciplinary

field of Paleolithic diet.

Professor Cordain has also been a prolific contributor to the internet's

PALEODIET listgroup, a moderated list for scholars and interested onlookers,

devoted primarily to discussion of scientific research related to

paleoanthropological findings on early human diets, as well as modern clinical

research with a bearing on diets modeling them today. He has in recent months

made presentations on the subject to various colloquia of scientists, and begun

publishing peer-reviewed papers on Paleodiet-related topics in the scientific

literature.

Loren has graciously allowed us to reproduce here a number of his scientifically

referenced postings from the Paleodiet listgroup and has approved edits to make

them stand on their own apart from the listgroup, and to be as clear as possible

for the layperson. We invite you to sample here his discussions of the research

findings bearing on the question of healthy omnivorous diets, and the pitfalls

of diets discordant with our genetic inheritance from the human evolutionary

past......>
