We got up early and made our 3hr drive and just got home!

We got a lot of info-Dr.Fitch and his Resident DR examined Evan and

then ordered x-rays-They did one sitting up side view and one

sitting up front view and one lying on his back(supine)-

The ones sitting up showed a 62degree curve and the one on his back

showed a 28degree curve-Big difference?!

Anyway his RVAD is in the high 50's-

He suggested Bracing/Casting- I talked w/him about my concerns with

bracing not being a corrective method, just a maintaining thing and

he agreed. Once he started w/talking on the cast- I asked what type

and what type of Frame- He said Risser and I thought " NO " , but

listened and then confronted him with the Mehta information which he

was VERY interested in listening to and wants to actually see the

video. He offered to do the casting, but my husband and I will

contact Shriners in Erie in the AM again to try and schedule an

appointment.

He was VERY nice and spent a great deal of time w/us but I think

he's not dealt with but a " few " infant cases of infantile scoli- He

said Ev's is not congenital-

He did mention a growing rod surgery if the casting didn't correct

completely, which he said he'd never seen casting correct

completely.

I felt so completely good about the appointment and about being

armed w/all my articles and info on Mehta and her techniques-He

requested that I send the video and wants to review it.

I'll call Erie in the AM and let you know.

Any thougths are appreciated!
