Guest guest
hi anna, welcome to the group. my son lucas who is now 4 and went into a cast at 2 1/2 yrs old didn't have to didn't have to go too long before he was potty trained during the day, but unfortunately, he still wears a diaper at night. anyway, heather hyatt has some diapering tips on her website. check it out here: http://www.infantilescoliosis.org/diapering_tips.htm good luck in erie. lucas goes for his cast change feb. 13-14th. i don't think anyone else will be there then either :-( i will be going alone, but this time i'm taking a commercial flight instead of angel flight. we've had not so good luck in the winter with the weather and small planes. i don't want any additional headaches. it's stressful enough going there -- although lucas loves the game room! deshea Thanks so much shellie! It means a lot! i am praying for resluts too! the spine is completely rotated so that is bad. but hopefully since he is only 11months that we still have alot of time. what do you do about diapering? anna-mom to adison shirt under cast > > > > > > > > > > > > and Deshea, > > > > > > > > I absolutely HATE that darn shirt. Guest guest
Hey Deshea, Noelle is the same age as Lucas and it has only been just very recently that she can go all night without the pull-up. Guest guest
Jenn, Here is what I used to do with the shirt under Liv's prior casts: Pull shirt out enough, so it can overlap over the cast about an inch. Attach overlapped(trimmed) shirt/stockinette to cast with moleskin petals(the petals should be half under the cast, and half on the outside of cast..)Make sure the petals are very smooth under the cast...Reinforce petals (on the outside of cast) with Tacky Glue (in CAST Supply Bag). Once glue is dry, place decorating material over it, and Modge Podge. This method not only helped with keeping the shirt out of the way, but it also helped the integrity of the cast. Olivia would spill on it, vomit, urinate, etc....and all I would have to do is wipe off with a damp towel...If the cast got soiled inside, I would just pull out the shirt enough to clean with a mild soap/water, rinse, and blow-dry. Thats what worked for us. Hope that made sense! Sincerely, HRH > and Deshea, > > I absolutely HATE that darn shirt. What a pain in the neck for every > diaper change! Guest guest
Hmmm, I just may try taping it to his cast. I really hate dealing with this!! Noelle (12-2-01)Ian (8-15-04) shirt under cast and Deshea,I absolutely HATE that darn shirt. What a pain in the neck for every diaper change! Very difficult to do the tuck technique. We're doing it (or shall I say I'm doing it as hubby will NOT attempt this one), but it takes a while. I've already been tempted to cut the bottom of it, wrap it over bottom of cast and tape it in place with the waterproof tape. Tired of it bunching up., let me know what Dr. Khoury says.mom to and Jake
Guest guest
Jen, I understand what you are saying about the shirt, but I find that more stuff gets up into the cast because of the shirt. Without the shirt, I was able to tuck the diaper into the front and back of the cast very easily and never had problems with anything getting up there...now I am having all kinds of problems with poop getting up there and now that it's on the shirt it doesn't come out no matter how much you wipe the shirt. I am thinking of taping the shirt to the cast like suggested...that may solve the problem. Noelle (12-2-01)Ian (8-15-04) Re: shirt under cast Hi there! Congrats on such awesome news. I'm sure this must be a huge weight lifted off your shoulders. I guess since Madison never had a cast without the shirt I'm not sure that I can really offer any advice on that area. I lliked the shirt because if there was skin breakdown the blood would spread on the shirt so i would know it was actually there. I know that doesn't sound too good, but it's better than it going on so long that I wouldn't know for much later. Also, if something got up the cast, it would get stuck tot he shirt and then I could just pull it down and wash the shirt and get any mess out og there. what worked for me is of course not going to work for everyone...maybe some things you hadn't thought about? Once again, CONGRATS!!!! Jen Sjviv314 <jviv314@...> wrote: and Deshea,I absolutely HATE that darn shirt. What a pain in the neck for every diaper change! Very difficult to do the tuck technique.
