Guest guest Posted September 3, 2008 Report Share Posted September 3, 2008 I'm newly working in bariatrics and I wasn't able to " train " or spend anytime with my predecessor. Currently, we recommend the patients use 3 grams of protein to 1 gram of CHO ratio to determine appropriate high protein/low carb foods. I personally have no idea where this advice came from nor have I been able to find any research on the subject, plus the former RD's note contradicts itself and has the ratio flipped around. To top that off, the nurse has stated at one time they were doing a 5:3 ratio. I really would just like to know what other programs are telling their patients about max CHO intake or if anyone knows where the Pro:CHO came from?
