Oooh, this just reminded me of an issue I have...

We moved to this property a year ago (purchased from my in-laws). There are

3 great apple trees here. Unfortunately, the apples are *awful*...each and

every one of them...they are so buggy or diseased (I don't really know which

it is) that I can't even just cut out the bad spots because the whole apple

is bad. I remember years ago, they used to produce beautiful, yummy fruit.

The last several years, they have not.

When I cut into the apple, the inside is dotted all brown. I don't know

enough about apples/apple trees to know if this is an insect problem or

something else.

Does anyone have any ideas what it is? And what I can do about it come

spring? It's a shame...3 trees produces a lot of fruit and I want to be able

to use it instead of just letting the squirrels have them (though I

appreciate that they pick them up off the ground for me. ;) ).
