Hi Kathy-

The hospital where I work carries this. I've used it once or twice on

my hands (I'm not chemically sensitive) and I didn't notice anything

spectacular. I've seen it sold over-the-counter at Walgreens and it's

outrageously priced. Hmmm...there should be gold in it. As a nurse,

my best educated guess is that the lactic acid works at removing the

old skin cells at a faster rate that would normally slough off

slower, thereby forcing new skin cells to produce faster than they

normally would. You'd get the same effect when you use a scrub on the

skin, except it's not an acid doing the removing.

If in doubt, make your own. That way, you'll KNOW what you're putting

on your skin. I am slowly buying the products necessary for doing

just that. If you're someone who would rather make your own items-

from household cleaning, laundry, skin care and a whole lot of other

non-toxic type of concoctions, I whole-heartedly recommend the book,

Better Basics for the Home by Annie Berthold-Bond. It's amazing how a

lot of the lower-cost, non-toxic items can do a very good job at a

fraction of the cost and without all those additives and toxins!

I love it when I find a book, or whatever, and it helps me and my

surroundings, as well as my pocketbook. It astounds me how much money

is spent on skin creams and such, without any more results than the

bargain brands.

Who has been off her statin for one month now and no longer wakes up

in the middle of the night with those horrible foot cramps. Has been

eating good and will be tip-toe'ing to the clinic to get a fasting

blood draw in 2 days to re-check her cholesterol levels...
