Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Your situation sounds very familiar to me. We really had a tough time the first week was in his band. They told us to take the band off every 3-4 hours for the first few days so that his head could get used to it, but we wanted him to get started right away and consequently we left it on for too long of time and he developed some very red spots that wouldn't go away after a few hours, so we had to make 3 or 4 trips back to the clinic the first week. We faced all the same emotions, lots of self doubt, are we doing the right thing, will this thing even work, etc. But after the first week it was really smooth sailing. I think always had some red spots, they just weren't as bad. Please try not to worry about what others will think when they see Cole in his band. Our experience was that for the most part people are just curious. I can only remember one rude comment. A few people came up and asked what it was for. And one adorable 10 year old boy came up up and asked what sport he was in that he got to wear the cool helmet. And when ' treatments were over we couldn't have been more pleased. You're doing the right thing. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Sounds like you're a little frustrated because of the difficulty in getting a good fit with the band. I absolutely guarantee you, when you get in the groove and iron out the initial problems, it'll be fine. Grace has had the band a couple weeks now, and today while in Oak Brook, I was able to actually forget for a while about people looking at Grace. Unless you're a raving neurotic (or at least, a worst one than myself it WILL get better. I PROMISE! Guest guest
I agree, it does it get better. Believe it or not, you do actually get to a point where you " forget about it " while you are in public. Kimry
