Guest guest
, Madison is 25 months old now and Dr. D'Astous did her casting. She is in a TLSO now. We are gong for check ups every three months. She initially started out wearing her brace 23 1/2 hours a day and is now down to 20 hours a day. She is going through some pretty intense PT right now to help her gain strength and balance in her torso. Her skin is just now starting to get back to a somewhat normal state, but probably really won't until she is finished with her bracing. We are really blessed to have caught her scoli so early and to have access to treatment so early. I wish allof you the very best and hope Madison's story will be inspirational to parents ans doctors around the globe. Jenjviv314 <jviv314@...> wrote: ,Madison's story is very encouraging! Guest guest
How is her skin? Is it painful to her? These are some of the things my husband is very concerned about in regards to casting. I know it is an issue but am also convinced it is worth it if it helps straighten Jake's spine. How often is her PT? Yes, she is an inspiration. I wish I had found 's website sooner. I noticed Jake's scoli over 1 year ago (he's now almost 15 months), and I wish I would have known about casting then..... Sincerely, <jenstewart73@...> wrote: , Madison is 25 months old now and Dr. D'Astous did her casting. She is in a TLSO now. We are gong for check ups every three months. Guest guest
Hi , I just thought I'd share our experiences with the cast and skin issues My daughter Bridget is 4 and a half and has been in casts for a year now. We live in Australia in a sub tropical climate with a very long hot summer an a high humidity. Bridget's skin has been great in har four casts so far. She had one red pressure mark below her shoulder blade after cast 3 and this cast we have had a few belly button issues because of rubbing but I can reach this with cream but her skin has been great. The cast sits up from the skin at the back a bit so I could get my hand down to wipe her a bit with a baby wipe and then the hair dryer on cool was great in summer to blow down there to try to get some cool air flowing an the perspiraton dry. If I get her to roll around I can reach other spots well with the baby wipe so the skin can get a little air. Most of us have had kids in casts for quite awhile at a stretch and I haven't seen too many people mention skin problems. They advise you at the hospiital to look out for particularly nasty smells or discoloured sections of the cast but I can't remember anyone mentioning this happening. Feel free to correct me anyone. I hope this helps. Good luck Bert and Bridget Viveiros <jviv314@...> wrote: How is her skin? Is it painful to her?
