Too Much Exercise Bad?

I have a question about too much exercise and metabolism.

Doing too much exercise slows the metabolism? I am trying to lose

weight but some doctor told me that when you do too much exercise, like 2-3

hours a day, your metabolism goes on a survival mode. Is it better to just

bike-ride 1 hour a day, 5 times a week, combined with a diet?

I would appreciate your answers ASP

[You have to identify what is meant by " too much exercises " . Is it genuine

overtraining which is producing stagnation of progress, decreased motivation,

listlessness and even injury, or is it some person's opinion that " too much

exercise " generally is " bad " for the body? If the former, then obviously, you

need to cut back on training, but if the latter, just continue to enjoy what you

are doing. Ask your doctor to provide you with references which validate his

beliefs. Mel Siff]
