Guest guest
Hi All of those questions made me laugh for some reason. He has all those probs but they are from his heart condition. This is just making things so much harder. Mase has had poor circulation to his extremities since the casting started all because of his heart defect. When I take his shirt off his tugs at the belly of the cast and sometimes I catch him pulling at the armpit of the cast. His breathing is way off because of the cast, but thats also because of his heart. And Mase has always had REALLY sensitive skin but its holding up pretty good so far. I dont know what to do. He's scheduled for July 7th for the cast to come off. Do you think it would be ok to wait until then if its getting tight? Or do you know any other signs I should look for? Thank You YOu are always so helpful I really appreciate it! Jen and Masonheather hyatt <heather@...> wrote: Jen, Is Mason getting good blood circulation to his limbs/fingers? Guest guest
Hi Thank you Mase seems to be loosing weight in the cast. He has lost atleast 2 pounds since they started in March. But it seems to be getting tighter in certain areas but looser in others. Its looser in his diaper area and tighter on the upper body. I really dont know what to look for and the first time i ask his ortho (back in march) all he said was that i would know if it looks too tight. But I really cant tell especially since I see him all day everyday, I cant tell gradual changes or slight changes. Oh well...I try and figure something out Why has Adan been in the same cast for so long? Is that normal? I dont really know. Thanks again take Care Jen and mason <christinehrph@...> wrote: Jen Adan has grown alot and his cast seems to be getting looser>>>??? Guest guest
I'm not sure what chest expansion windows are. But Mase has a flap cut out over his sternum to relieve pressure off of his sternum, and his has a belly window that his bellow all of his ribs. Guest guest
, Jen, The POP jackets are made of "Plaster of Paris" and are known to get looser by the end of the childs 3/4 months of wearing this type of cast. The POP conforms/breathes with the child (a little) and will loosen up after 3/4 months. Fiberglass will not give, at all... Miss Mehta and the docs applying POP jackets use plaster by choice. They feel its more comfortable for the child, and they are able to attain better correction with POP..I've asked many times why they prefer POP and their response is "We use POP in casting the spine, for the same reason we use it to cast club feet...better correction, it doesnt dry as fast (more time to work on correction, derotation,alignment,etc..)and its easier, more comfortable on the childs skin. Guest guest
Adan seems to be really skinny also I just try to make sure he gets at least 1 bottle of pedisure a day He has this weird sto mach muscle in the middle of his stomach ( kind of scary)like a line from his mid chest I can see down the back of his cast on both sides pretty much so I wonder if the cast looses so push after a while he is sooooo active running and jumping around and the lower part of the cast as well I think the sides is still really tight so that is good and they are pushing on the opposite side good because they are keeping the arm higher to keep his posture to the left more ( opposite the curve) They say as close to 15 weeks in the cast is best so we we told we can came back from 2 to 4 months for a change and as far as I know Miss mehta recommends 12 to 16 weeks ( heather or anyone correct me if I am wrong) My ortho from Boston said he loved the fact that it stayed on and he really liked the shirt underneath... How long does mason have his casts on? What was his original numbersjennifer levie <jenniferlevie@...> wrote: Hi Thank you Mase seems to be loosing weight in the cast.
