Guest guest
Glitz, I ordered some lava stones a while back from a supplier. You can tint them and add fragrance to them. Is this what you are talking about? I am pretty sure they are lava. I will pull them out tonight and make sure but I was intrigued when I saw they could colored, etc. and that is why I ordered them. Like most things, they went into my supply closet for a " rainy day " project. The only other possibility I can think of is " scented stones " which was I made a lot of last year, they were tinted and scented and sound much like the rose bead recipe. Guest guest
Hmmmmm lava is usually black to my knowledge so this is not what I am talking about :-) Sandstone is just that. It is stone that is made from sand and kinda grainy and coarse and soft. Got me with tinting Lava rock LOL. Guest guest
We're getting closer!!! The product is not grainy, it's smooth, so shouldn't be sand BUT that does sound very interesting and like something I might want to try! The rock you are referring to is the roserock. I live in Noble OK, the roserock capital of the world. So I do know that it's not an actual roserock. Thanks guys! Guest guest
pumice-is, volcanic glass formed by the solidification of lava that is permeated with gas bubbles. Usually found at the surface of a lava flow, it is colorless or light gray and has the general appearance of a rock froth i found this in the dictionary. so pumice is lava and it is porous so maybe it can be scented? just my .02 tamika
Guest guest
We quarry our sandstone from two separate sites in Santa Barbara. Both quarries are in-house operations, and yield approximately 1,000 tons of consistent, quality stone per month. All of our sandstone has a hard, tight grain that makes it easy to work with. this is from a site whose company does sandstone finishes on houses. sand stone is a whole organic rock material not a mixture of sand and water or flour etc. i am only saying this so none thinks they can mix this stuff up in thier kitchen LOL!!! it comes in slabs similar to limestone or natural slatejust my .02 tamika
Guest guest
Tamika, well, thank you. I was beginning to feel like a real dummy. The grey stone I purchased was called lava rock, they have been made uniform to the size of rock salt and I ordered them because I was intrigued in that they can be colored and scented. People then place them in dishes, maybe around candles or just alone and they are used as air fresheners. Glitz had me thinking I was nuts. When I was in Hawaii I saw this stuff only in large chunks like I have in my yard. The rose colored stones however may be something else. The stuff I have is porous and on the light side in weight, just large granules. Carol A2
Guest guest
I'm sorry I made you feel nuts--that was not my intention :-) Was trying to be helpful- Glitz slinking back to the corner to lurk again. Guest guest
Hi Glitz - thanks for the comment regarding the lava rock, it was a baffling question but once the recipe for the sand rock was posted, assuming that is what this rose scented rock is, I noticed it is practically the same recipe for making Scented Stones that went around a year or so ago, did you notice. The only difference is the Sand Clay obviously calls for sand while the scented stones recipe used flour I believe. I tried to find it last night but with my piles of recipes, it was impossible without a major effort. Well, I hope the puzzle is solved. Incidentally, have you ever seen the red colored lava rock people use in their yards (we have lots in my area of Michigan) well, this stuff I have is the same texture as that, only more uniform little granules but porous and spongy looking. Maybe they don't use this stuff in your neck of the woods. Have a great day. Carol A2
Guest guest
There is a plaster of paris kit you can buy at s- or if you know how to make it from scratch even better- you just add color and scent, soaking in the eo or fo would probably work best to give the final product the longest lasting smell. lynn in valencia lavender bluffs bath and body " A little touch of heaven in your bath "
