Guest guest
In response to Littleton's question, let's see if I can find some logical reason why the construction of power plants in CA is behind the demand. There are many but the best one is that hindsight is better than foresight. At present, critics of all ilks are pointing fingers in every direction and most are finding valid reasons for why CA is behind. Needless to say that is not a productive activity. Right now everyone is desperately trying to get new power sources on-line in CA. The problem is that we are years behind and power plants are not built overnight. Another problem is that there are other sources of power that could be used, such as solar and wind (both of which CA has in abundance). The existing power providers have failed to provide an infrastructure that delivers this alternative power into the available power supply for CA communities because they don't own these alternatives and up to the present time, they claimed that natural gas was cheaper. All I can say to those of you who live in states who have not deregulated power -- DON'T!!! Jim and I are very lucky to live within the confines of LA County where the Dept. of Water and Power long ago determined the other provideres to be untrustworthy and formed their own production company to obtain power independent of So Cal Edison and PG & E. For once LA has come out smelling like a rose, and we have the power to write this e-mail. Rosemary Wedderburn-Vernon Venice, CA
