Guest guest
Hello all, We have a patient one year post RYGB. Vitamin D levels are as follows: Vitamin D, 25-OH, Total 19 - Low (normal range 20-100) Vitamin D 25-OH, D3 19 – WNL per lab parameters Vitamin D 25-OH D2 <4 – WNL per lab parameters I have reviewed articles related to vitamin D deficiency and repletion and have not found anything helpful to develop a plan of care for this patient. In reviewing previous messages on the listserv, it seems that repletion of 50,000 IU D3 once per week for 6-12 weeks is appropriate until a level of 40-50 is reached, then supplement with 2,000 IU per day. Is this regimen what we should recommend for this patient? And how often do you recommend his levels be checked with this supplementation?
