hi all

First I want to thank all of you that has helped me with all of my questions

Adan was put into a cast on Thurs and is doing well. They measured him around 35-38 thoracic Cobb and the lower compensatory of 23..RVAD of 9 going into the cast( May 2004..... 30 Degree Cobb no compensatory and (RVAD of 25-30 Boston). then in the cast he is 14/18 in the cast RV AD of 8..so great results .......

Thanks again to most importantly for this site and all the work and time you have committed to this........Crista, and Deshea and Tawney, Carmell I would not know what I have done with out your help.( and everyone else who has helped me along the way)

This cast seems very heavy I am measuring 6 pounds?? so He is still trying to learn how to get around

Things have been crazy so I have little time (He is still awake at 11 pm AWWWWAAAAh)

I will post more especially questions about care and his movement but for now I wanted to tell you how he is doing,...

If the new guys on the group need his stats and info to get the whole picture let me know...

Thanks again

about 1-1/2 weeks before casting and now she is so limited, but I'm sure in no time she'll be stronger and mobile again. The diapering is INTERESTING to say the leaste! She has had pooh up the back twice already, thank heavens you can pull out enough of the little shirt to clean and dry it! Hey ,

Congratulations to you and to Adan on the great improvement . I can't wait to see a picture of him in his cast. you are doing so well. Oh well everyone takes sometime to get used to their cast but he will work it out in no time and think of all the extra muscle tone carrying around those extra pounds will stack on.

Fantastic correction hey.

I put a picture of Adan and Tyler in July as well as the sun safe out he wears to the beach it works really good for sand and is made for the Beach so it not too hot <christinehrph@...> wrote:

Hi all

Thanks Bert for reminding me we have been soo behind

I am going to post pictures

Adan had his 2nd cast applied with the same results of a curve but I think it looks worse ( mean the 1 st looked better in the xray) in the xray the "overall alignment" but I am not an expert at reading xrays maybe he was moving. They seem to get the original thoracic curve to look good but the compensatory lumbar always gives it a worse appearance

His original curves were 38/24 RVAD 9 then 1st cast 14/18 RVAD 8 now

14/12 They told me they do not measure the RVAD anymore after the 1st cast ??????i am not sure why not. He said the rotation was a 1 out 0f 4 ( 1 least 4 worse)

I guess it may take Adan more than 3 months to get better traction

The only thing that bothered me was Mike was not part of the team like usually he was away so ....

Thanks for listing ang and your interest

Does anyone the name of the device they measure the curve in the x rays with is called?

I want to measure my x rays at home

*****ALSO Adan has had a hard time with falling in the casts he always bangs his head when he falls forward like he trips then his body goes down then the head bangs the ground..he has had too many falls already that have produced large eggs on his head....any suggestions beside helmet??

Also when measuring the curve for and RVAD how do they do it??

Good luck to all of you going from procedures in this and next month

Thanks again for all your your time

Bridget was toilet training while she was in a brace and a cast. I pretty much put her straight into undies and we just went for it. The only time we had problems with the cast getting wet was when she was asleep and then we used the hair dryer on cool to dry it out. It is a bit messy but not much that can be done really. I think they actually have to feel wet and uncomfortable before they make a conscious decision to go and do it somewhere else.

Good luck and hey , did I miss Adan's cast update? How did it go?

I potty trained Madison while in a cast. I used the Pampers First Steps and panty liners on the lower inside portion of the cast to help avoid any messes. I also put velcro on the front and back bottom of the cast and knit rite shirt. This helped keep the shirt out of the way. I found she was confusing the first step and the shirt on which one to try to pull down.

She was able to get to the potty and pull the First Step down in time for successful potty going. The Feel and Learns from Pampers also help out a lot too. She will be able to feel when she's wet; hopefully, teaching when it's time to go. To teach her what it meant to "go", I let her run around in the back yard with nothing on until she went outside. Not exactly scientific or classy....but it worked. Good Luck!!!

Hi! My daughter, , is 2 1/2 and I would like to start potty training soon. Does anyone have any helpful hints that you have learned potty training your toddler in a cast? The biggest challenge that I see is:'s diaper tends to come out from under the cast. We use a larger diaper on the outside to hold the smaller diaper up under the cast. (Wonderful advise from a mom on this site!) When bends over, the outside diaper will come down below the cast unless she has on a shirt that snaps between the legs. So we have a shirt to unsnap between her legs, a large diaper to remove and a small diaper to remove! I'm not even sure that I would be able to hold it while I did all that - I am sure that will have already taken care of business before that process is over!Any

pointers?Thanks, and

It is great!!!! it goes almost all the way to the neck I put small thin washcloths around the top in case the threw sand but he did not.

The company is SUN SAFE and it has a UVB/UVA of like 50 plus

I believe I got mine thru the catalog one step ahead but you may be able to get it cheaper on another site...try my Simon for price comparison

Lets get together next week!!

I am sure things will work out great for Lucas tomorrow I will be thinking of him and you.
