Mel and others,

Here's a question for you, I have been diagnosed with

severe hallus valgus(bunions) on the big toe joint of

both feet as well as flat feet and an arthritic

condition in the joint probably due to overuse from

playing football and track and field. Every doctor I

have seen has told me that surgery is a definite in

the near future if the pain gets worse, and it has

been getting worse.

I still want to compete when my

college career is over, even if I get surgery. My

question is from a biomechanics standpoint, after

surgery would I have to relearn to run becuase of the

formation of my feet and is it possible to return to a

highly competitive lifestyle after a surgery like that?
